is about right, that's what I used to pay, something along them lines, it is pretty disgusting the cost of hire cars and next time I'm seriously thinking of getting a taxi to lower the overall costs

Ken do you always get what you ask for??

I asked for a small car 2 door fiesta or similar, got a VW Caddy as they recon they had no small cars left.

Usually I do Bob...within the category anyway.
If they ' upgrade ' you its not always to your benefit is it ?? It costs more.

Ken when I am asked if I want to upgrade I usually refuse because it costs more for tank of petrol where they charge you for a full tank and you bring it back empty ha ha.
However they do not charge extra for the hire just the amount quoted for the smaller car.
My 2 hires this year have both been no payment for fuel and bring back as you got it ie quarter of a tank.

Lightbulb Re: Are Cars Expensive To Hire Again This Year?

Hi BOD,
in May this year we booked a car and it cost 400 euros plus petrol and the 3euros per day for "insurance"....extortinate especially with the exchange rate.
so we cancelled the car. hired a taxi from the airport , return cost 80euros.
then we caugth buses and taxis and we were still left with a LOT of change.
just try it once and you may be pleasantly surprised.
we always book a car in the winter as it hugely cheaper and we need it as the weather is normally crap, and we go sighty seeing !!!

Chrissie I did not think 340 for 3 weeks 4 days in April/May was too bad 100€ a week and it is the convenience plus we needed it to visit furniture shops.
Rogue taxis charge 60€ each way to and from airport.

It pays to shop around I usually book through Bravo who offer a choice of Hire companies at Murcia and Alicante showing each of their prices. I also always go for the next up from a smart car and I always pay the 2 or 3 euroa a day for tyres and windows because with my enemies I expect them to get put in one day. Mind there is a maximum on this extra some charge 10 days as a maximum so for 3 and a half weeks I only paid it for 10 days.
